Haircut & Hairstyle Trend: The Shagged Lob

Lately it seems we all about the shag!  Shagged LOB haircut that is!

First of all let me say, the LOB haircut became SO popular, because the younger generations associate a “bob” as a “mom cut” or as someone who is “older.”  But lets be real, a lob haircut is a version of a “classic” bob; therefore, the lob is a bob.  So from here on out in this blog, I’m going to reference it as a bob haircut.  And because so many people are still rocking their bobs (of ALL different lengths), but feeling up for a change, adding some shaggy layers is the ultimate client and stylist dream when we talk about having a shared reality of what is possible for a new haircut option.  Clients actually can feel like they’ve gotten a change, but still have the comfort of their usual length, and hairstylists feels like they are actually accomplishing a change rather than the usual trim.  It also gives us stylists an opportunity to chat new styling options, so fun!

Lately the hairstyle trends being messier have offered so many more options to our always classy and in style bobs.  Bob haircuts have become shaggier, more texturized, so much edgier looking.  Straight, wavy, or curly, whether natural, or curl added with a wand or iron of some sort, add their own custom style to this do as well.  Loosening up some of that hair by adding texture has really made it easier to pull off these looks in such a fashion forward kind of way.

Soft wind-swept styled shag:

Style this with a wand, or favorite curling iron of your choice.  Start the curls around the widest area of your head for some great fullness, for an elongated curl look, give the curl a tug once you let it fall off the iron to stretch it out.  Set your curls with a texture finishing spray such as Spray Putty from Fat Boy and use a scrunching motion with your hands for the ultimate texture & volume in your hairstyle.
